4th Of July 2013 - A Country Club Affair

We made a long weekend of it in Richfield this year then drove up to Utah for a day to be with the cousins (the only time during the year we get to see them... :-( ) and to go to the Country Club for the 4th of July!

We started out the festivities with a morning visit to Pioneer State Park, followed by the elegant, much-anticipated all-you-can-eat buffet at the Club with fireworks afterwards on the Club lawn.
On the train with Wyatt, Uncle Dave, Luke, Graham, Spence, Sophie, and Paige. And the tour guide.
Making arrow head necklaces at the Indian teepees. With my friend Roland Denny and his family who happened to be running the craft!
 Papa, Sophie and Paige.
Love the new water element! Especially on hot days!
In the pool washing off the dust.... ahhhh.
 Hey Bella!
All you can drink Shirley Temples - the height of extravagance to my kids!

So much to choose from.... but this is what I got two plates of, below. The fruit smothered in creme anglaise - what a perfect dessert!!!

Paige has you under her foot, bud! Not for the first time.
Playing on the green while waiting for it to get dark

 Jane and Sophie
And the fireworks. Much to the kids' chagrin, we had to leave before they ended to beat the crowd out of there so we could start our three-hour drive home. But Bella was waiting for us in the car and needed our support during the scary antics of the fireworks, so that got them to come a little more willingly. This is one of my favorite ways to spend the 4th of July though - great food that I don't have to cook, and family family family. Love it.
